A survivor of both childhood polio and Covid-19, Foster finally passed away after a years-long battle with congestive heart failure.
Foster was born in Montana to loving parents Lester and Helena Davis and was raised with many siblings in Maine. Foster lived with her husband and children in Maine, Japan, the Pacific Northwest, Pennsylvania and Kentucky before settling in Virginia. When she was younger, she loved to dance and ride horses, was a lifeguard, owned and operated a Tastee Freeze ice cream shop, drove school bus, taught Sunday school, led choir, loved to craft, hunt, play cards and most of all, spend time with beloved family members.
Preceded in death by her husband Ned Whitling, son Christopher and several siblings, Foster is now survived by two sisters, Hazel Boucher and Dodi Davis, of Turner and Lewiston Maine, and four remaining children: Amber Lashlee and her husband Randolph Jones of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Julia O’Neall of Somerset, Kentucky, Ned Scott Whitling and his wife Sandy of Hustle, Virginia, and Leslie Chartier and her husband Ernie of Durham, North Carolina. Foster is also survived by beloved grandchildren, in order of appearance: Heather, Scotty, Staci Lynn, Jacob, Antonio, Amanda and Christopher, and by several great grandchildren.
