John D. Baxter, 63, passed away unexpectedly on February 22, 2021 from COVID-19. John was born in Pensacola, Florida, son of William Dee and Jane Carroll (Estes) Baxter. He lived in the comfort of his self-built home by the water.

John graduated from Fort Hunt High School, Class of 1975. John was a multi-instrumentalist and singer/song-writer.  He married Cheryl (Fullerton) Baxter April 26, 1980, with whom he raised three children. John was an intelligent and honest man; a loving father, grandfather, husband, and loyal friend to many. He was a trustee and loyal member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a hard-worker his whole life, and always encouraged people to strive for more. John loved old cars, telling jokes, growing gardens, his boats and any chance to be on the water.

John is survived by his sons Matthew Dee and Michael Dee, daughter Ruthanne Carol, younger sister Cynthia Jane and her husband Dean, younger brother William Dee, nieces Anna, Shannon, Deanna and Erin, and two grandchildren Landon and Jayden.
