Strother W. “Ted” Lewis, Jr. 92 of Bowling Green passed from this life on April 28, 2021. He was born January 17, 1929 to Strother William and Sarah Linda (Pitts) Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Catherine Broaddus, Ella Frazier, Virginia Beazley and Mary Lynn Dyson. Ted was a lifetime resident of Bowling Green in Caroline County. He served in the United States Army Signal Corps and the 80th Division of the Army Reserve from 1950 to 1958. Ted retired from the Town of Bowling Green in 1991 after 18 years of service as Maintenance Supervisor. He was a member of the Bowling Green Town Council from 1992 to 1996. He had previously worked as a lineman for Virginia Electric Cooperative and Tidewater Telephone Company. He had also owned a chain saw repair and logging business. After retirement, he worked at Flagg Leasing Co. and Gilman Lumber Co. for a number of years. He was a member of Bowling Green Baptist Church, and honorary lifetime member of the Bowling Green Volunteer Fire Department, serving from 1947 to 1971. He was Past Master of Kilwinning-Crosse Masonic Lodge #2-237 AF&AM and a member of the ACCA Temple Shriners and Scottish Rites. He most enjoyed spending time with family, taking long rides in the country and dancing with Margaret. Their song was “Always”, by Irving Berlin. He worked hard all of his life, was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a great friend. Ted married the love of his life in 1950 and is survived by his wife, Margaret; three children, Craig B. Lewis (Barbara), Sheryl L. Boyd and Sarah L. Doggett (Todd); sister, Hannah Chance; sister in law, Lorene Cornell; grandchildren, Col. Edward W. Lewis (Samantha), Hilary L. Farnam (Andrew), Kristen Shay Luchynsky (Bill), William Randolph Taylor III, Taylor Blanton Doggett (Caitlin), Troy Michael Doggett (Alle) and great grandchildren, Garrett and Strother Luchynsky, Harper and Sutton Lewis, Weston and Owen Farnam and Emerson Doggett. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 2nd at 3:00pm in Bowling Green Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Lakewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bowling Green Baptist Church. Visitation & Funeral Service Information

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 2nd at 3:00pm in Bowling Green Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Lakewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the service.
