Ray was the son of the late Lewis and Pearl Barlow, a member of Salem Baptist Church, was a U. S. Army veteran and was the last Charter member of the Reedy Church Ruritan Club and helped to charter Sparta Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Betty Ann Barlow; his four daughters, Carolyn Lane (John), Catherine “Pudney” Pitts (CJ), Betty Rae Johnson (Arthur)and Amy Sue Whittaker (Dennis); six grandchildren, Tracey Mallory (Ashley), Ashley Gray (Cathy), Matthew Johnson (Stephanie), Daniel Myers (Stacy), Alison Floyd (Tyler) and Seth Whittaker (Morgan Woody); and nine great-grandchildren, Kailey and Kamryn Gray, Emerson and Nolan Mallory, Deacon and Ezra Johnson, Chelsea Shiflett and Owen Floyd and Colton Myers and Baby Myers “on the way”; a brother, Anthony (Evelyn); a sister, Iola Utz; a brother-in-law, James Minter and a sister-in-law, Nancy Barlow and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis, Sr., Lewis, and Henry; three sisters, Leona Carter, Dorothy Bullock and Shirley Minter, brothers-in-law, Charles Street, Robert Carter, Kenny Utz and Harry Bullock; and sisters-in law, Ethel Barlow, Verna Barlow and Demple Barlow. The family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 Pm Monday, May 3, 2021 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. A funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Salem Baptist Church, 24032 Sparta Road, Milford, VA. 22514. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
