Betty Jo Mitchell, 72, of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Memorial Regional Medical Center with her two children by her side. Born in Fredericksburg, VA, Betty Jo enjoyed a career at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, retiring from her work in submarine ballistics. She was preceded in death by her beloved Kemp Smith. Betty Jo is survived by her two children, Shelley Michalski (Erik) and Shaun Mitchell (Jeanine); four grandchildren, Ragan and Madison Michalski, Jacob and Charlotte Mitchell; and three sisters, Mary Lee Boutchyard, Wilma Vaughn, and Debbie Sauder. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 26, at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green Chapel. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 2 pm on Thursday, May 27, with the Rev. Kevin James officiating.
