Jim was born in South Bend, IN, 30 April 1973. Jim worked in many different disciplines to include restaurant chef, bartender, and catering, vending and vintage interior decorator for restaurants. The center of his world was his daughter, Jordan. She was the light and love of his life. He loved animals, especially the family’s two Weimaraners, Shatze and Cheyenne. In addition, Jim loved the game of baseball, a player once himself, he never missed a Nationals game. One of the highlights of his life, was in 2019, when the Nationals won the World Series. Jim enjoyed family beach vacations and gatherings where he took the lead in showing off his cooking talents. He always looked forward to having breakfast with his parents on Sunday mornings and attending church together at Oakton Baptist.
He is survived by his daughter, Jordan DeVault; his parents Harry and Sandy DeVault of King George, VA; his sister Lisa Hockaday (Bobby) of South Carolina; nephews Justin and AJ Hockaday; niece Sierra DeVault of Fredericksburg, VA; and sister-in-law Ana DeVault of Fredericksburg, VA.
He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel DeVault of Colorado Springs, Colorado
The family will receive friends at 10 am Monday, June 7, at Storke Funeral Home, King George Chapel, with a funeral at 11 am, and burial following in Historyland Memorial Park. Pastor Greg Hinton will conduct the funeral ceremony. The pallbearers are: Harry DeVault, Bobby Hockaday, Justin Hockaday, and AJ Hockaday.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial contributions to Oakton Baptist Church, 14001 Sullyfield Cir, Chantilly, VA 20151.
Visitation & Funeral Service Information
The family will receive friends at 10 am
Monday, June 7, at Storke Funeral Home,
King George Chapel,with a funeral at 11 am,
and burial following in Historyland Memorial Park.
