Jon Alan Van Gorder, Sr., 62, of Ruther Glen died Saturday, July 17, 2021 at his home in Caroline County. Born in 29 Palms California, he spent his childhood traveling with his family in Military fashion. He was an avid baseball player and his later teen years were spent working on a farm in Iowa, where he showed beef cattle and built grain silos. He was later known for his work in concrete and love for fishing. He also enjoyed gardening, as well as hunting, canoeing and kayaking in his free time. He was a loving Father and Grandfather and will be remembered for his strong work ethic, contagious smile and sense of humor.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Van Gorder and a brother, Paul Van Gorder, Sr. Survivors include his father, Jan VanGorder; his siblings, Mark and Carol; his seven children, Erik, Melody, Jon Alan, Ashley, Chancelor, Kolten and Tanner and eight grandchildren.
