Robert L. DeBernard, 83, of King George, VA passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond, VA.

Robert served his country in the National Guard for 13 years. He retired after a career of more than 30 years as a painting foreman in public works at NSWC, Dahlgren. Following his retirement, he established his own painting business in King George.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Emma Lynch, Frances Stevens and Delores Atwood; and four brothers, Louis DeBernard, Michael DeBernard, Richard DeBernard and Billy Shepard.

Robert leaves behind his loving wife Laddie; daughter Theresa Knizner (Mike) of Glen Allen; two grandchildren, Michelle and Andrew Knizner; and two brothers, Freddy DeBernard (Joyce) and Joe DeBernard (Jackie) of King George.

A graveside service will be held at 2 pm Friday, August 6, at Potomac Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Dennis Newton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, August 5, at Storke Funeral Home, King George.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Potomac Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 8103 Comorn Rd., King George, VA 22485.
