Born in Barberton, Ohio, Donna retired after a long career with Grand Union and was a founding member of the Food Employers Relations Association (FELRA) and United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Union. At 18 years of age, she worked to help establish the local 400 Union Teamsters at Constitution Hall in Washington, DC. Following retirement, she attended Rappahannock Community College and became a Certified Nursing Assistant for Mary Washington Home Health. She was a member of the Colonial Beach Women of the Moose Chapter #1636 and served as a Senior Regent receiving her College of Regents Degree. She was a past President of the Colonial Beach Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) group. Donna was an active member of the Colonial Beach United Methodist Church and Choir. She loved singing!
She leaves behind her children, Cheryl Kelly (Jack), Lin Nugent, Judy Faunce (George), Carl Pearson, Valerie Heflin (Jimmy), Drew Pearson (Lucy) and Kellie Sanders (Paul); 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Carlton T. Pearson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Friday, August 20, at Colonial Beach United Methodist Church, with burial following in Historyland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 19, at Storke Funeral Home, Colonial Beach Chapel.
