On the morning of March 15, 2019, George Washington Jr. went home to be with the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alice Washington and his loving wife, Louise. He is survived by his daughters, Katherine W. Samuels and Patricia W. Kline (Jeff); his sister, Virginia “Jinx” Sykora (Norman); his step mother, Doris Washington and four grandchildren, Benjamin, Amanda, Katherine and Brent. George was a man who loved his family and his community.

He served as a volunteer for 53 years with Bowling Green Rescue Squad and was a founding member of the Upper Caroline Vol. Fire Department. He served for three terms on the Caroline Board of Supervisors and retired after 30 years as a Vice President with Union Bank and Trust. George’s booming laugh, mischievous nature, and his willingness to lend a hand made him beloved by everyone he met.

The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Sunday, March 17th from 4:00 – 6:00pm. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 18th at 2:00pm in Round Oak Baptist Church, Corbin. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Upper Caroline VFD or the Rappahannock Railroad Museum.
