Kathleen Anne Amato née Smith, 75, of Spotsylvania passed away in her home on the evening of November 7th, 2021 in her bed surrounded by family. Kathy was born in Brooklyn and spent the first 47 years of her life in New York where she worked for the diocese of Brooklyn as a teacher aid and active member of the school PTO before moving to Spotsylvania.

What defines Kathy more than all else was her being a mother. She embodies the definition of motherhood and gave her five children unconditional love and support throughout their lives. She extends her spirit of motherhood towards her 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren who adore her as their loving Nana. Kathy always treated friends of the family as if they were her own, never failing to share that same passion of a mother with anyone she was close to.

She is survived by her loving husband Charles, her cherished children Christopher, Jennifer, Jessica, Nicholas, and Matthew, also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Kathy is preceded in death by her loving parents, Rudy and Dorothy Smith.
