Bessie Blanton Allen, 96, of Bowling Green went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Born in Sparta, she was a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church, where she was a cherished member of the choir and WMU. She retired from Union Bank and Trust in 1988 to spend time with her family. Bessie faithfully served her community through various organizations and shared her love of cooking through her many acts of kindness. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly McDearmon (Glenn); her son, Tommy Blanton (Renee); her daughter in law, Amy Blanton; four grandchildren, Jay Blanton (Jenny), Chad Blanton (Lucy), Megan Huffman (Tommy) and Ashlee Ewing. In addition, two step grandchildren, Justin Shiflett and Dillon Cooperrider; six great-grandchildren, Kyla Blanton, Delana Blanton, Nicholas Montalvo, Julian Blanton, Emmerson Huffman, and Hayes Huffman. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Willard “WL” Allen; her son, Jimmy Blanton; her sister, Charlotte Durrett; her brother, Carl Reynolds and her loving parents Clem and Nancy “Nannie” Reynolds. Bessie’s kind and gentle nature, love for her family and friends, as well as her strong faith, was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. At Bessie’s request a private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bowling Green Rescue Squad.
