Alfred C. Sletten, 63 of Hayland Farm in Doswell, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024 in Chippenham Hospital, Richmond. Born in Fredericksburg, he lived his entire life on a farm that had been in his family since a land grant from the King of England in the 1700’s. Alfred dedicated himself to farming at an early age, following in his beloved uncle’s footsteps. He was proud of the distinction of operating a Century Farm and carrying on that tradition. He is survived by his wife, Robin Ware Sletten; his son, John Sletten (Heather); his grandchildren, Rollyson, Maddie, Owen and Finnley; his lifelong friends, Susan Parrish, Robin Biddle, Lynne Parrish, Cathy Tingen, Dolores Treadway, Nick Hayes and Jimmy Lankford and his constant companion/dog, Oliver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. Sletten and Helen Cardwell Sletten and his uncle, John Cardwell. The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 7^th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. At Alfred’s request, a private graveside funeral will be held later.
