Carl L. Willett

September 28, 1934 - November 14, 2023

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Colonial Beach United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM, January 10, 2024, with visitation beginning at 10:00, at the church.  The procession will leave the church and make its way around the point and then proceed to Oak Hill Cemetery, where burial will occur at 2:00 PM, with a reception to follow at Fredericksburg Baptist Church.

Carl Lee Willett, age 89, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, peacefully left this world on November 14, 2023.  He was born on September 28, 1934, to Hazel Virginia Lee Willett and Norman Murray Willett.

Carl is survived by his wife of sixty-five (65) years, Susan Kathryn Mears Willett, their daughter, Terri Lee Willett Crowder (Kevin), and two grandchildren, Krystyn Kucharski (John) and Robert Brauning.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Francis Willett, his mother, Hazel Virginia Lee Willett McGinniss and his father, Norman Murray Willett.

Carl was a graduate of King George High School.  He was lifelong resident of Colonial Beach.  He retired from US Naval Station Dahlgren following 47 years of service.  He led countless numbers of Scouts and taught numerous people how to swim at Colonial Beach. He was a member of Colonial Beach United Methodist church since 1958, and he was a Life Member of Colonial Beach Rescue Squad.

Carl will be missed by his family, by his church friends, his colleagues at the Colonial Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, and especially by the numerous men he nurtured through Scouting.
