Charlene A. Harris, 81 of Milford passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in Bowling Green Health and Rehab, after a long illness. Born in Hampton, she was the widow of Kenneth E. Harris. As an Army wife, she traveled with her family all over the country and world. In addition to raising her children, she worked in libraries in Oklahoma, Texas and Germany. After her husband’s retirement from the Army, she served as the children’s librarian for over 30 years, serving in all four of Caroline County’s libraries. Charlene is survived by her children, Tanya Sumbry (Eddie) and Kenneth E. Harris, Jr. (Twonder); her grandchildren, Eddie Sumbry Jr., Charnette Sumbry, Tiffani Harris and Kenneth Harris III and her great grandchildren, Callie Winston and Kennedi Harris. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 17^th at 6:00pm in the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Caroline Animal Shelter 14080 Devils Three Jump Road, Milford VA 22514.
