Merilyn Sivoria Watts

November 21, 1955 - June 30, 2023

Homegoing service at 11am on Saturday July 8 at Little Zion Baptist Church, Colonial Beach. 

The family will receive friends at 10am. 

Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. 

Pastor Earl T. Howerton, Jr and Rev Russell Conward will officiate.

Merilyn Sivoria Watts was born on November 21, 1955 in Westmoreland County Virginia to the parents, Raymond Edward Watts Sr. and the (late) Selena Virginia Johnson.

At a very young age her family moved to Washington DC, she attended various Washington DC schools in South East DC and North East DC.  In the late 1960’s the family moved to Seat Pleasant Maryland.

In 1974, Merilyn graduated from Bladensburg Senior High School. Not long after graduation she worked for a school that specialized in kids with disabilities.

Merilyn was baptized at a young age and was a member of Second Union Baptist Church located in South West, Washington DC .  Currently Merilyn is a member of Faith International Church of Capitol Heights Maryland.

Merilyn have always been a very giving person; she would give you her last just to make sure you have what you need.

In 1994, she gave birth to her only child Leyah Diamond Mack.  She loved and cared for her daughter, no one could even imagine how much she loved her child.

It is very important for her nieces and nephews to know that she loves them very much, she always bragged about their accomplishments and how well they were raised by their parents.

In March of 1979, she was employed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as a file clerk.  She worked in various positions such as receptionist, typist, legal instrument examiners, supervisory Legal Instrument Examiner, Head Supervisory Legal Instrument Examiner and Technical Operation Review Program Manager.

Merilyn enjoyed and took pride in her jobs within the Patent and Trademark Office. She was promoted many times during her career.

Merilyn retired in June of 2022 from the Patent and Trademark Office after 43 years of service.

She leaves to morn: Father: Raymond Edward Watts Sr. of Oak Grove VA, One Daughter: Leyah Diamond Mack, of Capitol Heights Maryland, Two Sisters: Gloria Jett, of King George VA, Illinois B. Watts/Brooks (Delvin Brooks- deceased) of Clinton Maryland, One Brother: Raymond Edward Watts Jr. (Doris) of Upper Marlboro Maryland, One Granddaughter Kamiyah Sivoria Denise Barlow of Capitol Heights Maryland and a host of nieces and nephews.
