William Glenn Miller

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church, King George.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 5590 Kings Highway, King George, VA 22485. 

William Glenn Miller was born in Noble, Oklahoma on May 16, 1932. As a young child his family moved from Oklahoma to Dixon, California. After high school he joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. Following his service in the Navy he earned a degree in engineering from San Jose State College.

Upon graduation he was employed by Lockheed Missile and Space for 15 years. While there, he and his group were awarded a special commendation from the government for developing a weapon system which was recognized as one of the two most significant weapons instrumental in the defeat of the Viet Cong.

He then moved his wife and six children to King George, VA where he was employed by the Naval Base in Dahlgren, VA. After three years in Dahlgren, he worked for the Department of Defense in Washington DC in charge of all track and wheeled vehicles for the military. During his work in the government, and after retirement he was active in land development in King George County.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years; Elaine; his sister Ruth Ayers of Corcoran, California; his six children Randall (Jan), Cristi (Bill), Kimber, Lawrence (Kathleen), James (Karen) and Scott (Anne).

He was “Papa” to twelve grandchildren; Brooke, Hannah, David, Tiffany, Brandon, Austin, Marc, Nate, Walker, Lucy, Charlie and Mary.

He was “Great Papa” to twelve great grandchildren; Brayden, Kaylee, Noah, Madison, Tate, Kourtlynn, C.J., Arianna, Ava, Landon, Avery and Lainey.

He was loved by all.
