Brooking "Stuart" Cecil, Jr.

July 24, 1940 - August 26, 2023

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Rev. Melvin Covington officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research. Brooking “Stuart” Cecil, Jr., 83, of Woodford died peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. Born in Lauraville, he was the son of the late Brooking Stuart Cecil, Sr. and Annabelle Moore Cecil and he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Beasley. At 16, Stuart went to work for Franklin Smith, then worked for Earl Bryant, Newton-Storke Ford, Freddie Hall, Carroll Elliott, and retired from Anytime Towing. He loved American flags, eagles, his Kubota tractor, and his Craftsman lawn mower. Stuart could be seen cutting his grass up until a week ago. Survivors include his wife of 61 ½ years, Judy Cecil; four brothers, James Milton Cecil (Mary Jo), Richard Cecil, Billy Wayne Cecil, and Joseph “Dick” Cecil (Becky); two sisters, Margie Cecil and Mary Shook (Ronnie); his brother-in-law, Richard Covington (Karen); many nieces and nephews, including three nieces Stuart thought of as his own, Stephanie Sadler (Ben), Karla Eutsler (Ryan), and Courtney Taylor (Jeremy); and great nephews and nieces, Jacob and Ruby Kate Sadler, Hunter Eutsler, and Sophia and Rhett Taylor. A funeral service will be held 2 pm Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Rev. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Taylor, Ben Sadler, Ryan Eutsler, Jackie Martin, Tony Martin, and Richard Collawn.
