MILLS, Michael Lee, 78, of Fredericksburg, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024 in Ashland, VA after bravely completing a 15-month battle with brain cancer.  He was preceded in death by his father, George Edward; mother, Thelma; and brothers, George and Timothy. He is survived by his wife, Dorraine; children, Rodney Mills (Laura), Michelle Chang (Kent), Sheri Johnson (Kevin) and Olivia Mills; stepdaughters, Christine (Kosath), Shari (Robert) and Kendra; sisters, Judy Barkhouser and Krista Breuninger; grandchildren, David, Seth, Matthew and Hannah; great-grandson, Michael; as well as numerous step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Prior to his marriage to Dorraine, Michael was also preceded in death by his former wives, Sharon and Marcia. Interment will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fredericksburg. Mr. Mills was a member of Round Oak Baptist Church. He served his country in the Virginia Army National Guard and retired, first from Verizon and later from the EPA. He never lost his strong faith in God, taught to him by his mother, his joy of mechanical work, which he learned from his father and his love of wood-working which he passed along to his children. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Glioblastoma Foundation or Round Oak Baptist Church.
