Cathy Cowden Roberts of Milford Virginia passed away on 4 December, 2023 due to protracted health issues related to a stroke suffered in April of 2021.  She was born in Atlanta Georgia on 3 March 1954, to the late William Wood Cowden and Geraldine Neal Cowden.  Cathy grew up in the northern Atlanta suburb of Sandy Springs where she graduated from North Springs High School in 1972.  She attended Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, Georgia, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Office Administration. While attending college she met her future husband, Jerry Allen Roberts of Hopewell, Virginia whom she married on September 11, 1976.  Cathy alternated between full time wife and mother and a career as a bookkeeper/accountant.   Her husband was a Marine Corps office for 23 years and they lived in various locals such as Quantico, Virginia, Fayetteville and Jacksonville, North Carolina, Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas and Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.  She has resided in Caroline County Virginia since November 1998.  She was an avid traveler and equestrian, owning and riding horses for 23 years. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry Allen Roberts, her son William J. Roberts of Manassas, Virginia, and her sister Pamela Cowden Ayars, of Cartersville, Georgia.  The family will receive family and friends at a memorial service/celebration of life at their home, at 23037 Sparta Rd. Milford, Virginia, at 1:00 PM on the 20th of April, 2024.   Condolences can be sent to; [email protected].
