Clare Agnes Hutchings, 80, of King George, formerly of Lucinda, PA passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024 in her home surrounded in love by her family, as well as the sound of rifle fire, starring Chuck Connors.

On February 4, 1944, Clare was born to Sebastian “Bost” and Florence Wolbert.  She was the youngest of 10 children and was known as “Girlie” on the family farm.

Clare loved playing bingo and cards but was truly dedicated to God, her family, friends, and her job at NSWC Dahlgren in the Aegis Library where she worked for many years.  After retirement, she and her husband took on professional photography in King George and photographed many weddings and sports through King George Parks and Rec.   Her favorite hobbies included camping, golf cart rides, crafts, and coloring on her iPad.  She was her family’s biggest fan.  Leading her daughters in cheer at the YMCA as their coach and fundraising for the organization for years, never missing a skeet shooting weekend with her husband and daughter, attending every event or ceremony she could for her grandkids, and always lending a listening ear for anyone who needed it.  She was a bright light and full of compassion.  Her most beloved memories were any time spent with family and friends.

In addition to her parents and eight siblings, Clare was preceded in death by the love of her life, Cyrus H. Hutchings.

Clare is survived by one brother Eugene Wolbert of Fairchance, PA; daughters Cassandra “Candi” Gayle (Eric) of King George, Kimberly “Kim” Martin (Kevin) of Sandston, and Brandy Burd (Craig) of Virginia Beach: grandchildren Kyle Martin, Kolton Martin, Kirsten Staples, Brice Staples, Olivia Burd, Samantha Burd, and Cannon Burd; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mary Washington Hospice Mary Washington Hospice Services | Mary Washington Healthcare.
