Clinton Franklin Loeffler, beloved husband, father, and grandfather and lifelong resident of Colonial Beach, Virginia passed away on Sunday, May 15th at 4:18pm at the age of 79, at Harmony at Falls Run in Fredericksburg.

Clinton is survived by his wife, Linda Loeffler; his children Sheri Parcell (Mark) of Blacksburg Virginia; Jacke Mumpower (Jamy) of Fredericksburg Virginia; and his grandchildren: Joshua, Addie, and Jakob. He is also survived by his siblings, John Loeffler of Shepherdstown;  Madeline Rose of Colonial Beach; and Edna Jenkins of Colorado Springs.

Clint was born in Washington, DC at Providence Hospital on February 6, 1943 to Vera Louise and John Gustav Loeffler. He married his high school sweetheart in 1963 and they most recently celebrated 58 years together.  He also worked his entire career at Naval Surface Warfare Center of Dahlgren, Virginia. As a Senior Electronics Technician, he greatly enjoyed overseeing tests on radar and sensors, trips to Wallops Island, and the occasional helicopter ride with the marines.

In his youth, Clint was found on the basketball court. He played for Oak Grove and was a Colonial Beach Drifter, too.  His athletic talent was recognized in 1961 when he was named to All State. Sports being in his blood, he dabbled in many through the years. He tried his hand at drag racing, skeet shooting, tractor pulling, fishing, and became an avid golfer, too. As of late, he enjoyed weekly phone chats with his brother, John, discussing his beloved Redskins, Nationals, and Capitals. Many a disagreement could be heard between him and the tv as he watched his “games.” And though sports were true to his heart, he was also a devoted and loving husband, dad, and grandad. This is how he will be best remembered.

Unfortunately, his diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease came as a shock in 2006. He received a DBS stimulator in 2017 that helped with his mobility, but he sadly withdrew from public life in the last decade. While we are all saddened by his loss, we know he is now mobile and pain free in heaven. We are sure he is happily swinging those golf clubs, casting the fishing poles, and slam dunking basketballs in his eternal home.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00am on Tuesday, June 7th at Historyland Memorial Park in King George, Virginia.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to  The Parkinson’s Foundation.  We know he will be greatly missed by those he loved, but helping others fight the disease of Parkinson’s is the gift he would want us to give.
