Cristine Mary (Wild) Knapp of Yorktown, VA died March 14, 2024 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. She was born May 30, 1971 in Antigo WI, the first born of Thomas and Caroline Wild. She married Colonel Eric Knapp on October 26, 1996 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Antigo. Cristine was a 1989 graduate of Antigo High School and a 1993 graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

Cris’s greatest joy was being a mother, not only to her three children but to so many others in need who seemed to find her during her journeys. She chose to write her own story; traveling with her family on dozens of trips around the world, pursuing her passion for limitless learning by experiencing different cultures and meeting new people. She loved being part of the military community for 30 years; optimistically seeing each new move as the family’s next ‘adventure’. Undaunted by adversity, her curiosity and caring heart never dimmed, no matter the challenge, as she enriched so many lives during her too short time with us all. Cris left a lasting impression on those who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors besides her husband and parents include her children, Alayna, Walker, and Sawyer Knapp, one sister Jenna (Rick) Marshall, two brothers, Dan (Connie) Wild and Matt (Jen) Wild, and her paternal grandmother, Mary Wild. She is further survived by her in-laws Charlotte and Rod Ostrowski, Richard and Jewel Knapp, sisters-in-law Heather (Dave) McCarthy and Summer (Chris) Noto, and brother-in-law Paul (Renee) Knapp and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Delilah and Herbert Wolter, paternal grandfather, Leonard Wild, and her godparents Rosemary and Norbert Schroepfer.
