Curtis George Gore

October 18, 1943 - October 9, 2023

Due to the King George Fall Festival held on October 14, please allow for additional travel time to and from the funeral home.

We invite anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Curtis to attend and remember his remarkable life. Saturday, October 14 a visitation will be held from 12noon-1pm followed by a celebration of life & service at 1pm at Storke Funeral Home, 11089 James Madison Parkway, King George, VA.  

A reception will follow at Curtis’ residence in King George.

While surrounded by loved ones, Curtis George Gore (“PawPaw”), seventy-nine years old of King George, VA, departed this world on October 9, 2023.

Born on October 18, 1943, in Holden, West Virginia, Curtis is preceded in death by his mother, Clara Gore; father, Levi Gore; sister, Gertie Lee Murphy; wife of fifty years, Judith Gore; and son, Christopher Michael Gore.

Curtis is survived by his wife, Cheryl May Gore; daughter, Amy Lynn Betts, and son-in-law, Patrick Betts, of King George, VA; daughter, Laura Beth Mowery; and son-in-law, Joseph Dale Mowery, of King George, VA.

Grandchildren include Jeremy Curtis McCloud, of Chesterfield, VA; Joshua Alan and Victoria Grace Mowery of King George, VA; Levi Jesse Davis of Verner, West Virginia; Tyler Gore of Florida; great-granddaughter Kristina Rea McCloud of Chesterfield, VA; step-children Michelle and Louis McBride of Fredericksburg, VA; Damian and Karen May of San Diego, California; Dawn and John Ross of Wickenburg, Arizona; and Laura and Jim Heinrich of Aurora, New York. Special extended family includes Kendell and John Reese of King George, VA.

Along with a host of friends who were also family and special neighbors loved as family, Curtis was a retired coal miner, a Lake Volunteer Fire Department member, and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He also loved to garden and have beautiful flower beds. After retirement, he would spend hours making anything from wood in his workshop.
