Henrietta Alley Hastings

August 20, 1933 - April 18, 2024

A private family funeral will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church on Friday, April 26, 2024. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would love for people to donate flowers to residents of Heritage Hall Nursing Home.

Henrietta Alley Hastings, 90 of Canning Farm, in King George, Virginia passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024 after a long illness. Born in Earles Grove, South Carolina, Henrietta was the daughter of Herman Miles Alley and Bessie Bolian Alley. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Evelyn Anglin and Juanita Woody. Henrietta had been an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she served for years as a Sunday school teacher.

Living her earlier years in the mountains of western North Carolina, Henrietta went to Burnsville Elementary School and graduated from Mars Hill High School. She was working at International Harvester Company where she met her future spouse in Asheville, NC.

Henrietta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who took great interest in her family. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and creator of 1/12 scale miniature room boxes and banners for her church. She was also an avid Chinese Checker player who enjoyed winning.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Edward D. Hastings; her three children, Elizabeth Anne Howell (Roger) of King George, Laura Hastings Young (Darrel) of Burnsville, NC and Edward Miles Hastings (Brenda) of Canning Farm, King George; five grandchildren, Jennifer Goheen (Riley), Emily Bazargan (Darah), Joseph Hastings (Sheridan), Abigail Hastings, and Samuel Hastings; five great grandchildren, Asa, Elia, Isaiah, and Elsie Goheen and Isla Bazargan.
