A funeral service will be held 2 pm Monday, October 16, 2023 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. The family will receive friends 4-6 pm Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bowling Green.

Darrell Hicks entered into heaven October 12, 2023. He was predeceased by his father Henry Hicks and, mother Elizabeth Hicks; his sisters Verlie and Jean Hicks; and his brothers Dean and Martin Hicks.

Darrell is survived by his brothers Eugene, Jerry, and Terry Hicks; his sisters Charlotte Huddleston, Phyllis Fields, and Delona Pugh; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Darrell was born in Caretta, West Virginia. He moved to Virginia as a youth and attended Spotsylvania High School. He then enlisted in the Marine Corp. Honored in Basic training with marksman awards, he then deployed to Vietnam where he was wounded in battle, and received the Purple Heart. After being medically discharged Darrell found strength recovering from his physical and mental wounds through his savior Jesus Crist and his close knit family. An avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the West Virginia Mountaineers. Darrell loved sharing stories and spending time with his family. He served his family, his country, and his Lord.

Pall Bearers: Jerry Hicks, Terry Hicks, Hank Hicks, Keith Huddleston, Joseph Huddleston, and Troy Pugh. Honorary Pall Bearers: Eugene Hicks, and Craig Field.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Elnora Pope and her family for loving and taking such great care of Darrell.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Disabled American Veterans Charity.
