Darrell Roger Brooks of Ruther Glen, 88, died Sunday, November 5, 2023 at his home. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church and he graduated from Spotsylvania High School. He retired from VDOT in 1995. He loved sports and was an avid redskin fan. He pitched softball and baseball before high school and later pitched for teams in Spotsylvania County. He was a good gardener and very meticulous about anything he tried to do. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Irma Brooks; his sons, Greg and Keith; his siter, Jeannette Kirby and his son-in-law Leonard Cahall. Survivors include his wife, Lois Carter Brooks; three children, Debra Brooks Rizza (Paul), Kim Cahall and Jeff Brooks (Laura); three brothers, Larry Brooks (Charmie), Waldo Brooks (Lorene) and Roy Brooks (Rena); a sister, Nancy Burruss (Red); 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday, November 10, 2023 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green with Pastor David Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in County Line Baptist Church, 3461 Ladysmith Road, Ruther Glen, VA 22546.
