Delores Lee Hoge Shea

November 2, 1934 - May 15, 2022

A graveside service will be held at 2pm Monday, May 23 at Oakland Baptist Church Cemetery in King George.

Delores Lee Hoge Shea was born November 2, 1939 in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  She was the daughter and only child of Granville Lee Hoge and Mary Frances Hoge (nee Henderson).  She was raised in Dahlgren and lived there all of her life.  She lived her life outdoors and on the water.  She fished, crabbed, swam and boated in both Williams Creek and the Machodoc Creek, she rode her go-cart up and down Dahlgren Road, she worked in her father’s garage, known in the 1950’s as Dahlgren Service Center.  Delores was well known and loved throughout the neighborhood.

Delores attended Dahlgren School on base and was a 1958 graduate of King George High School. Delores had a deep and true passion for family, history and genealogy.  Her genealogical research was her life. If there was one important detail she would want in her obituary it would be to have complete and accurate information with full names of her descendants so future generations would not have to guess.

Delores died on May 15, 2022 in her home.  Delores was a loving Mother and Grandmother and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Oran Alexander Shea of Wethersfield, Connecticut.  She is survived by her daughter, Mary Frances Shea Wasenko of Fredericksburg and her husband Christopher Bryan Wasenko; her son, Oran Edward Shea of King George and his wife, Jamie Deane Morgan Shea.  Her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Catherine Ann Wasenko, Tara Anne Shea and James Alexander Wasenko. 

Delores was an active member of the King George Historical Society, Virginia Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, National Society United States Daughters of 1812, Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars, National Society Descendants of Early Quakers, Order of Bacon’s Rebellion, Society of the 1704 Virginia Quit Rents, The National Society of the Dames of the Court of Honor, and The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century.
