Dixon E. Allen, 89 of Ladysmith passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023 in Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. Born in Boston, Massachusetts to Evelyn and Thaddeus Allen, he grew up in the Boston area. He served in the Air Force in Alaska during the Korean War and returned to the Boston area for several years. He moved to Florida and completed a B.A. from Stetson University. He was an adventurous person, serving as County Administrator of Roads in Florida, homesteading in Alaska with his brother and being a purchasing agent in West Virginia. He was very active in the Lake Caroline community, serving as Director for several years and sat on various committees. He loved anything related to water; sailing, fishing, skiing.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Avis Allen; his children, D.J. Allen, Lynnda Campbell (Jon), Angel Critchfield (Mark), Dawn Arbogast, Aaron Arbogast (LeighAnn) and Ira Allen (Shanna); eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Allen and great-grandson Mason Critchfield. A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 13^th at 2:00pm in Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Ladysmith.
