A Celebration of Life will take place at Shiloh Baptist Church on March 16 at 11:00 AM.

A graveside funeral service, with full Navy honors, will take place in Arlington National Cemetery, on a date and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW Post 12202), the Hudson-Morris Masonic Lodge #80, or the Elmer “Juney” Morris Jr. Veterans Scholarship at the University of Mary Washington.

Elmer R. “Juney” Morris Jr., 100, of King George passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of King George County, he served in the United States Navy during WWII. He saw combat in the Pacific aboard the USS Braine. During that service, he was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, with a Combat “V.” After the war, he took advantage of the G.I. Bill to finish his college degree at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg. It was there he met his future wife. After college, he returned to his hometown and opened Morris Chevrolet. He operated the dealership for almost 50 years and was a well-respected member of the business community. Juney served for over 20 years on the King George School Board and was a founding member of the King George State Bank.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Marceline Weatherly Morris; his children, Ellen Spivey (Rod) and E.R. “Tip” Morris III (Laura); his four grandchildren, Kelly Lewis (Garry), Brock Butler (Molly), Natalie Morris (Chris), and Paul Morris (Cassandra); his fourteen great grandchildren, Lucas, Liam, Chloe, Oliver, Justin, Jillian, Jacob, Garry Jr., Josie, Ellie-Grace, Emma, Kathryn, Clara, and Bennett; and three great-great grandchildren, Bentley, Chance, and Millie. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Erin Butler Myers.
