Frank E. “Buddy” Powell, 86, of Woodford, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mattie Powell. Buddy had retired from R. C. Lee Carpet and University of Mary Washington, where he was affectionately known as the “Golf Cart man”, and he drove around the campus greeting the students while keeping the grounds clean. He followed basketball and softball at UMW and loved the Washington Nationals. He was a loving, gentle kind man who loved family and friends unconditionally.  Survivors include his children, Brenda Motley (Donald) and Mark Powell; his sister, Daisy, brother, Russell; ten grandchildren; twenty- three great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his sons, Barry, Kenny and Frank Jr and his siblings, Georgia and Darrell. A visitation will be held 1-2:30 PM Sunday, March 13 at Round Oak Baptist Church, Corbin.
