Fred Dodge, Jr.
July 28, 1944 - October 25, 2023
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to donate to their favorite animal shelter to help spread Fred’s love of pets.
Fred Dodge, Jr., born and raised in the Pittsburgh area and was a resident of Colonial Beach for 30+ years, passed away on October 25, 2023 at the age of 79. He was the son of Fred and Florence Dodge.
Fred is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Judy Dodge. Fred is survived by his daughter Laura Hietala (Greg); son Freddy Dodge (Peggy); grandchildren Brandi, Sam, Kristyn, Erik, and Cassie, and great-grandchildren Maverick, Julian, and Nolan.
He was a retired Chief after 22 years of service to the US Navy and loved traveling the world. He and his family lived in multiple areas on both coasts before settling in Colonial Beach. He spent many years coaching the high school softball teams and loved passing on his sports knowledge. As anyone who knew him, he never missed a chance to talk to and pet any dog he met!
