Frederick Ernest Rest, II

Frederick Ernest Rest, II, 74 of Colonial Beach passed away at his home on Tuesday. April 21, 2020.  He was born in Portsmouth, VA to the late Frederick E. Rest, Sr. and Mary A. Rest.  He was also preceded in death by his brother in law Bill Hyder and his nephew Frederick Worley.

After his schooling at Walt Whitman High School, Fred joined the Army and served as a Corporal.  A career firefighter, he retired from the Montgomery County, MD Fire Service as a Sergeant, where he also served as an EMT.  He also worked as a property manager for Highpoint North and South in Ocean City, MD.

Fred was a member of many organizations including: Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 4315; Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #1267, #2333; American Legion Post #148 and the VFW.

He was a proud retired firefighter, a humble military veteran, and an avid motorcycle rider. He completed his “bucket list” traveling all of the continental US on his Harley.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Loved helping out his sister bartending at AC’s and Coles Point Tavern. He learned the Base guitar at age 66 and played with the “Old Country” band at AC’s Café & Sports Grill.

Loving father to Patsy L. Patnode (Justin) of Dillon, CO and Carrie R. Koster (David) of Rehoboth Beach, DE; brother of Peggy Worley (Fred), Bristol, TN, Eddie Rest (Martha) of Callao, VA, Ann Hyder of Hague VA, and Joey Rest (Barbara) of King George, VA. Also survived by four grandchildren: Hailee R. Patnode, Lily B. Koster, Roxy M. Patnode, and Dillon F. Koster and several nieces, nephews, and godchildren

At a later date, a memorial time will be set in celebration of Fred’s life.
