Harry Carter Inscoe, of King George, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024. Born and raised in King George, he was the cherished son of the late Susie Ethel Carter Inscoe and Harry Randall Inscoe. Harry shared his childhood with his younger brother, the late Thomas Edward Inscoe.

Harry’s early career began as an assistant to a local bricklayer. Then at the age of 17, he began his tenure with the Sylvania Plant in Fredericksburg, later known as American Viscose Corporation and then the FMC Plant. Following the closure of the plant, he transitioned to work at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, as a mechanic.

Harry dedicated his life to serving his country with honor and distinction. He first served in the Virginia Army National Guard.  And, after being activated by the United States Army in 1961, he returned to the Virginia Army National Guard, 189th Group, and later retired as a Staff Sargent in 1983.

Harry was actively involved in various organizations, including the Fredericksburg National Guard Association, the Northern Neck Antique Automobile Club, and the National Antique Automobile Club of America. He was also a faithful member of Hanover Baptist Church and Memorial Baptist Church in Port Royal.

Harry had a passion for travel and had visited 49 of the 50 states. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast and frequented many race events and tracks. For many years, he enjoyed racing his car, Born Free, at many local drag strips.

Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of almost 64 years, Mary Jean Woodhouse Inscoe. Harry’s legacy lives on through his daughters, Carolyn M. Inscoe and Bonnie Sue Inscoe Roman (James), along with his granddaughters Julie Ann Moles and Toni Marie Dean (Matthew), and his great-grandchildren: Rebecca Ann Baer, Thomas Alan Baer, Elizabeth Marie Baer, and Karsyn Adley Dean.
