James Richard Garrett, 93, of Rappahannock Academy died at his home with his family by his side Thursday, October 26, 2023. Born at Rappahannock Academy, he was the son of the late Ernest Lynwood and Hazel Colbert Garrett. He was the widower of Helen Ashley Garrett. He was a graduate of Mica High School, which was on Fort A. P. Hill, was a founder of the Port Royal Volunteer Fire Department, on the Board of Directors of Greenlawn Cemetery and farmed until he was 80 years. Old. He is survived by five sons, Wayne Garrett, Douglas Garrett, Richard Garrett, Steven Garrett and Brent Garrett; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 11:00 Am Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Greenlawn Cemetery.
