James “Sonny” MacDonald Jett, Sr.

October 17, 1930 - February 15, 2024

The family will receive friends at 12:30pm on Monday, February 19 at Colonial Beach Baptist Church. 

A funeral service will begin at 2pm followed by burial at St. Peters Oak Grove Cemetery.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather “Pop Pop” and friend to all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be given to the Colonial Beach Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. James M. Jett, Sr., 93, of Colonial Beach, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at his home. Born in Washington, D. C. On October 17, 1930. He was the son of James B & Helen C. Jett.

Sonny was a Building Contractor in the Colonial Beach area for over 60 years; first with his father and then with his son and grandson. He retired from James M. Jett and Son, Inc. in 1992 and went on to work another 18 years with his son.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Barbara Jenkins Jett; his daughter, Carol Jett Massey (Tim, deceased); his son, James M. Jett, Jr. (Marcie); Grandchildren, Jennifer Massey Miller, Carrie Massey Keene (Josh), James M. Jett, Ill; Jace Jett, and Jaxton “JJ” Jett; Great Grandchildren, Ross Miller, Timmy Miller, Evelyn Keene, Massey Keene, and Mia Jett.
