Judith Lynn Hensley Purkey, 74 of Colonial Beach, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Mary Washington Hospital.  Born in Big Stone Gap, VA to her late parents James Hensley and Virginia Wells Hensley, Judy grew up in Montgomery County, MD alongside sister Sandra, and graduated from Gaithersburg High School.  Judy’s career as a bank manager spanned 45 years which fulfilled her love for finance.  She enjoyed gardening, boating, dancing with friends, party planning–especially cooking Thanksgiving dinners and hosting Christmas gatherings, enjoyed staying in touch with friends on FaceBook and decorating her home.  Judy was often described as a generous, kind, loving, and supportive friend.  She never missed a chance to eat crabs on Cobb Island and loved to listen to Lionel Richie and country music.  Judy was also a co-owner of Beach Service Center in Colonial Beach as well as the treasurer for 25 years for the Colonial Yacht Club.

Survivors include the love of her life Carey W. Geddes, Sr; son Dustin Purkey (Lisa Mott-Purkey); step-children Aubrey Fox (Todd Fox), Caley Childs-King (Brent King), Carey W. Geddes, Jr.; grandchildren Haven and Hendrix of MD; sister Sandra Ferrell; and beloved best friend Judie Kisly.

A funeral service will take place at 11am, Saturday, November 26 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Colonial Beach.  Burial at Historyland Memorial Park will follow.
