Katie Oliver of Fredericksburg, VA passed away much too young on Friday, June 19, 2020, at the age of 32. We ask readers to not only remember her beautiful spirit, but to remember to live life to the fullest because it is much too short.

Katie was born in Boise, ID and grew up in Woodford, VA. Katie was employed by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Quantico, VA as an investigative analyst. Katie graduated from Caroline High School in 2005 and earned a BA in history from University of Mary Washington in 2009. She competed on the Scholastic Bowl Team in high school, and achieved her lifelong goal of appearing on the TV game show Jeopardy in 2015. Katie enjoyed travel, baking, and going on a good ghost hunt. She also loved to go to festivals, concerts, and local trivia nights. Most of all she loved caring for her cherished cat, Bowie.

She was always there to support both family and friends. Katie was a staunch supporter of victims’ rights and not shy about sharing her thoughts which were always articulate, concise and factual. Known for her thoughtful and considerate nature, Katie left a lasting impression on every life she encountered. She had the most beautiful smile that could light up your soul. Katie was a loving and supportive daughter and best friend to her mother Vickie Perry, who will deeply miss her. She will also be missed by her sister Sarah Woods (Gavin), and her aunts, Barbara Hutchins, Wanda Flannery (Mark), Janice Carneal (Dawn), Debbie Bays (Rodney), Amy Lester (Eddie) and uncles Lewis and Dennis Martin, as well as many cousins; and numerous close friends. “For love is the only thing we can carry with us when we go, and it makes the end so easy.” —Louisa May Alcott.
