Margaret Via Carroll, 84 passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 in Charlotte, NC. She was the widow of Joseph R. Carroll, Jr. and was a retired librarian with Loudon County Public Library. Margaret loved to read and do puzzles. She also enjoyed sewing, working in her garden and traveling, but her most favorite activity was spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.  She was “famous” for her key lime pie. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Lester C. Via, Sr., her mother, Mary Louise, siblings, Lester C. Via, Jr., Jane Via and her step father, Charles S. Harrison. Margaret is survived by her children, Joseph R. Carroll III (Rita), Willam C. Carroll (Claudia), Tracey Carroll Mitchell (Duane) and Tricia Carroll Haverty (Mike); her grandchildren, Rachel Gourley (Joe), Joseph Carroll, Brooke Anne Davis (Jason), Brittany Smith, Jacob Smith, Will Haverty and Lauren Haverty; her great grandchildren, James Gourley, Jack Gourley, Olivia Gourley and Hattie Ross and her brother William Via (Sharon). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16^th at 2:00pm in the King George chapel of Storke Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Historyland Memorial Park, King George. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Heart Association in memory of Margaret.
