Mary Caputo, age 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct 22, 2023. She was born in Italy, came to the U.S. at age 3, and lived in Brooklyn, NY. Married Frank Caputo in 1954, celebrated 50 years of marriage when he passed in 2005. In NY, Mary worked in New York City as a bookkeeper/clerk for the ACIM, American Committee on Italian Migration. She’s known for her needlepoint, grapevine wreaths, great Italian cooking, especially meatballs and gravy, and her love of reading. She moved to Colonial Beach, VA in 1987, where she made many friends, including good friend Alice Cummings. Active in Lion’s Club, Altar and Rosary Society, and Library Tea. She leaves behind her loving children, a son, John Caputo; daughter, Anne (Nina) McWilliams; daughter, Rita Caputo; son-in-law, Douglas Pargeon; step grandson Kevin McWilliams; Kelly McWilliams; great grandchildren, Colin McWilliams and Liam McWilliams; grandsons Jordan McWilliams and Maxwell Caputo Pargeon; sister Ann Alles; brother-in-law Russell Wise; sister Jeanne Savino, and many nieces and nephews, both in the U.S. and in Italy.

Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat, Oct 28, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 12 Lossing Ave, Colonial Beach, VA 22443. In lieu of flowers, donations welcome to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or to Central Rappahannock Regional Library Cooper Branch.
