Mary Elizabeth Carter, 84 of Ruther Glen went to be with her Heavenly Father unexpectedly on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Known to her family as “Newt”, she was a member of County Line Baptist Church in Ruther Glen. She graduated from C. T. Smith High School in 1956 and she began her career working at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Richmond. She retired after 40 years as a manager. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, William Henry Carter; her brother, Lloyd L. Carter (Alice); her sister, Lois C. Brooks (Roger); her nieces, Teresa C. Satterwhite (Mike) and Peggy C. Snead (David) and her nephew, Timothy Carter (Kelly). She is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Friday, January 20^th at 1:00pm, with burial following in County Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
