Michael Alan Cairns, 65 of Spotsylvania passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 19, 2022 at his home. Born in Arlington, he retired after 38 years with Versar in Springfield and for the past 5 years had enjoyed being a school bus driver for the Spotsylvania School System. He was lovingly known as Mr. Mike. He was a lifelong member of the CAT Hunt Club in Sparta Va. and was a true outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and relic hunting.  He loved his family most of all and cherished his titles of Father, Husband, and Gramps.  He is survived by his wife, Karen Cairns; his children, Scott Cairns (Stephanie), Bradley Cairns (Jessica), Mark Cairns (Kara) and Brandy Preece (Mitch); his brother, Jeff Cairns (Diane) and nine grandchildren, Hunter Cairns, Lexy Cairns, Eli Cairns, Jesse Cairns, Ella Cairns, Lyla Cairns, Leah Cairns, Alex Preece and Charlie Preece. The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Friday, September 23^rd from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 24^th at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Doug Duty officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Light food and refreshments will be served at Salem Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on Sparta Rd. following Saturday’s services.
