Nancy Peatross Barlow

January 4, 1930 - November 2, 2023

The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Wednesday,
November 8thfrom 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service will follow on 2 p.m.Thursday, November 9
th at Concord Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The funeral will be
livestreamed on the church’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Frog Level Fire Department or Concord Baptist Church.

Nancy Peatross Barlow, 93 of Ruther Glen passed into eternity at her home on Thursday, November
2, 2023. She was a resident of Caroline Co. all her life; being raised in Bowling Green and living with
her husband of 71 years, Henry C, Barlow, Sr. (deceased), in the Dawn/Frog Level area.
She first professed belief in Jesus Christ as a child at Wright’s Chapel Church and again at Concord
Baptist Church. Over her years at Concord, Nancy was a member of the choir, Sunday school
teacher and numerous committees. She was active in her community, serving on the Caroline Co.
Museum and Culture Center Committee, the Dawn Library Committee, and Co-chair with Jean
Broaddus of the Caroline Farm Bureau Women’s Committee for about 25 years. She also served
with Henry on the Frog Level Rescue Squad and Fire Department and Reedy Creek Ruritan Club.
She studied painting under the local artist Sidney King who helped nurture her love for culture, creativity and natural beauty. Nancy worked in many capacities of accounting and bookkeeping to include her first job with DeJarnette Insurance, Contel/GTE, Golden Chimney Lining, and SunTrust Bank (retired 1983). Nancy was the daughter of William Early and Mary Young Peatross. She is survived by her sister, Jane Swain; her children, Diana Cocke (John), David Barlow (Ellen) and Clay Barlow (Cheryl); her
grandchildren, Heather (Rob), Amanda, Kelly (Trevor), Casey (Steve), Jason (Taryn), Lindsey (Jeremy) and her great grandchildren, Afton, Rowan, Orlin, Keean, Micah, Hayes, Henry and Mason. “The family would like to thank Nancy’s wonderful caregivers and support team, Nita Samuels and Debbie George, who became a part of our family and are cherished for the love and tender care they have shared. We’d also like to thank Nayar Hospice Care for their compassionate care and Tim Simpson who especially attentive and available when ever needed.” The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 8thfrom 6:00 – 8:00pm.
