Mr. Reginald Philip Hayden, Sr.,82 passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at his home in King George County after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Philip and Hester Hayden of Dahlgren. He was a graduate of King George High School and received a Degree in Mathematics from Randolph Macon College in Ashland, Va. He was also a graduate of the Department of Defense Program Management School.

After thirty-two years he retired from the Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Va. as a Supervisory Mathematician. Upon his retirement, Mr. Hayden built and owned The Village Apartments in King George. He was also active for many years in County government;  serving as a member of the King George County Board of Supervisors; The King George County Social Services Board and a member of the Rappahannock Area Development Commission. He  was also the Emergency Services Coordinator for the County. Mr. Hayden was an avid sportsman; Hunting on his farm at Dogue and spending warm summer days fishing at the River House in Westmoreland County.

He is survived by his wife, Elva Farmer Hayden; his son Philip Hayden and his wife Mary; a daughter Beth Amrhein and her fiancé Robbie Reamy; and four grandchildren; David Conner and his wife Alannah, Brooks Hayden, Hayden Amrhein and Chloe Amrhein. He was predeceased by his infant daughter Jennifer and a son-in-law Timothy Amrhein.

A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in King George at 11am on Saturday, April 29th. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John’s Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 134 King George, Va. 22485.
