Richard C. Snow, Jr., 63, of King George, VA, passed peacefully with his wife by his side on Monday, February 24, 2020, as the night was gradually moving towards the sunrise.  Richard was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in 2017.

Richard was born in Washington, D.C., on August 2, 1956.  As a child of a Navy military officer, he lived in Japan, California, Georgia, Connecticut, and Midway Island–the highlight of his travels–before moving to Dahlgren in 1971.  He was a Boy Scout, achieving the Life Scout rank with Troop 1404.  He graduated Class of 1975 from King George High School.  He also attended Shenandoah University and later lived in Washington, D.C., where he established a woodworking business and met his wife.  In 1993, they moved to King George, VA, to raise their family in the country.

Richard was a real estate broker and the founder of EXIT Realty Expertise in King George.  He was also an Associate Broker with Century 21 Battlefield. In 2020, Richard became a 25-year member of the Fredericksburg Area Association of Realtors.  A life-long entrepreneur, Richard was regarded as a natural leader, wisely mentoring many, and will be remembered for his honesty and integrity.

He possessed an inquiring and inventive mind and enjoyed creating and crafting as reflected in his love for woodworking, photography (known particularly for his sunset posts on Facebook), boat-building, cooking fine meals from his harvests, and winemaking, to name a few of his many endeavors.

He had a deep connection with nature and enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing, crabbing, surfing, waterskiing, hiking, and camping.  In his early 20s, Richard and his brother bicycled from King George, VA, to Morro Bay, CA.

Above all, he cherished time spent with family, especially while vacationing on the Outer Banks, NC, which was also where he and his daughter went skydiving together a year after his diagnosis!  A life lived fully to the end, yet taken too soon.

Among his survivors are his wife of 30 years, Julia Snow; his parents Richard Snow, Sr. (Shirley) and Maura Snow (companion Sherwood Moore); son Daniel Snow; daughter Clara Snow; sister Laura Yarus (Harvey); and brothers Conrad Snow (Ana), Jon Snow, and Chris Snow (Sarah).  He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and one great-nephew.

A Memorial Service for Richard will be held this Sunday, March 1st at 3 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in King George, VA. www.stpaulskgva.org

The local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation called the Rappahannock Spurs. As part of their Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship (JAKES) effort, they sponsor the Outdoor Club at the King George Middle School which helps youth learn to be responsible outdoorsmen and women.
