Roger Key, 68, lost his battle to cancer peacefully at home on Friday, October 28, 2022.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eunice Crabtree Key; son Lamar (Morgan); a grandson Theodore; two sisters Sharon Wright and Terri Haygood-Myers (Sean) as well as 16 nieces and nephews.   Roger is the son of Evelyn Elliott  Key and the late Lewis R. Key.  He is also predeceased by two brother-in-laws, Mark Haygood and Steve Wright and a nephew, Austin Fields. Roger volunteered with a number of service organizations, but the one that meant the most was over 10 years of service to the Boy Scouts. In 2013, after a 40 year career, Roger retired from Rappahannock Electric Cooperative. He was a choir member and a past Senior Warden of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Port Royal, VA.   Roger spent most of his retired years in Little River, SC enjoying golf, the water life and made many wonderful friends there.  Roger’s favorite pastimes were his interest in cars and music.   It has been heard so many times that he never met a stranger.

A visitation will be held on Friday, November 11 from 6-8:00 PM, at The Bowling Green Chapel of Storke Funeral Home.  A service be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 12. 2022 at Storke Funeral Home, 111 S. Main Street, Bowling Green, Va 22427.  A reception will follow in the upstairs fellowship hall at Bowling Green United Methodist Church (across the street from Storke).   Interment will be at 2:00 pm (following the reception) at Greenlawn.
