Roy was one of a kind with a heart of gold. We will miss hearing his stories, with that sly grin under a well-worn cap, from the easy chair in his store. He made sure you never left Roy's Seafood empty handed, but the greatest gift of all was the fellowship shared by this seasoned waterman. Roy lived life like most can only dream of. He wasn't afraid of hard work, never met a stranger, was a neighbor to all, with a willingness to help anyone anytime! He will be missed more than words can say. Let's honor Roy by spreading some friendship, kindness, and respect, like he shared with so many... Praying for Tina, Roy, and the boys.....??? Peace be with you Roy... ?

Roy and Tina, Your Dad will be sorely missed. He brought a smile to everyone's face; family, friends and strangers. He was one of the kindest people I know. We should all learn and take even a little bit of that with us.

Our hearts broke when we heard the tragic news about Roy. As many have said - he died doing what he always did, helping others. We've known Roy for over 40 yrs. We always looked forward to visiting him when we picked up our crabs. Lord knows how many times I've called and asked Roy to make sure he sets all those large crabs aside just for us! He would laugh. We now live in Florida. We are so fortunate that we were able to visit with Roy twice this summer. We spent several hours chit chatting about everything under the sun. He was a real GEM! A special person that will be missed by all. My thoughts and prayers go out to Roy, Tina and family.

Roy Jenkins epitomized the commandment, "love thy neighbor" My wife had a tire blowout several years ago not far from the seafood shop and Roy changed the tire. I often stopped by to chat and to buy seafood. The entire community will miss this man for many reasons. His family can rest assured that his earthly deeds will be remembered by the Saviour.

Mr. Roy was truly one of a kind. I can recall many times of me calling him for any old thing just to not have to go to Dahlgren on a Sunday evening. He would say, "This is not Walmart" and then laugh. We had many great conversations and shared many laughs. What would be a 5 minute in and out trip to pick up my crabs and shrimp, would turn into 30 minute conversations about life or anything. He always offered great advice and I will always appreciate the friendship that I had with him. Tetotum will never be the same. My heart aches for his family and friends. I send my deepest condolences & prayers to you.

Tribute from Louise in Texas and Elizabeth Peyton, King George...ROY FENWICK ..An ICON and almost felt like a family member to all the families in our King George neighborhood and community....dare I say all over the world! As we all grew up together, and many moved away, we still reunited with Roy at least once a year as he catered to our family reunions, our get togethers, and last minute needs. Going the extra mile,Roy full filled our needs. Roy took time and provided us with his kind wisdom and quit-wit conversation...laughter always followed. His generosity, excellent customer service, and just knowing not only my name, but my mother’s name and the entire family. Roy bridged generation gaps with a grin. Traveling from abroad, sometimes , we would see Roy before reuniting with family. Sometimes, we would reunite with other family members at Roy’s while picking up an order. When I tell you that Roy broke boundaries and blurred lines, then that is one of the many reasons why Roy ranks as our FAMILY too! Roy has proven that anyone can do a job, but it is the person who is missed! Well-done, thy good and faithful servant!

First and foremost, I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to Roy’s family. Roy was an absolute pleasure to be around. Roy always put a smile on my face with his humor. I had to pleasure to be around Roy at the Colonial Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Roy would not hesitate to teach you the old ways of the Fire Service. When I was assigned as a State Trooper to King George County I would stop so I could here his stories and have him show me some of the biggest Snapping Turtles that I have ever seen. Roy will be truly missed. May God bless Roy’s family through this difficult time. Joey Straughan, Jr

Roy Fenwick represented the best of King George. He was a straightforward, uncomplicated contributor to the happiness and well-being of the community. Whether Roy knew it or not, he was the source of a lot of happy family gatherings. He certainly was in my family. We could never have another crab feast without thinking about Roy. The way he prepared them, consistently for decades, is matchless. He was a faithful friend who always looked out for me during any family celebration. I always enjoyed talking with him and will always cherish the memories of such a good, constant friend. Rest easy, dear friend.

Roy will be missed by all. He was the first business man I met when I moved to KG. He greeted me with a smile and plenty jokes. He loved his customers and they loved him. He always shoved the snow from my driveway, cut my trees, and supplied me with Seafood. Roy had spirit of giving and helping others. Roy was a true Servant. My heart grieves, along with many, the loss of a dear friend.

Charles and I extend our heartfelt condolences, to Roy's family and friends, for the loss of such an incredible person! We always enjoyed stopping by to get our bushels of crabs and spend time talking with Roy and Tina(if she was there). Roy was larger than life! His decency, honesty and integrity is something that is rare in this day and age.

Only 6 hours before that horrible accident that claimed our friend Roy I was chatting with him and Nealy Little and Roy was teasing me about my pot belly and eating too many crabcakes that I made from the 10 pounds of crab meat I had bought from him a month earlier. That day we were attending the burial of close friend and neighbor George Bowie. How could anyone have guessed that this local legend, Roy Fenwick would be gone from the earth in 6 hours from that time. Little Roy and Tina, I am so deeply sorry that this happened. It is truly a shock to the entire community. Your dad was a mans man and helped all of us that knew him well so many times. Just saying that he will be missed is such an understatement. Roy was a part of our lives and that is not replaceable. What we do have left are some of the greatest memories that anyone could ask for. I never saw someone get so excited deer and goose hunting. I will miss you Roy RIP my friend.

Tragic and so sad to hear the news about Roy. He was such a nice person. When I was in the area I would stop by, chat a few minutes with Roy, and order up some crabs to eat or a couple pounds of crab meat to freeze and bring back to FL. I know that his family , especially, and his neighbors in the community will certainly miss his presence. I ask the Lord to comfort and bless his family and friends now and in the days to come.

Roy is my 1st cousin. I know his kind heart. He has always been that way. Since he and I were close to the same age we got to spend times together when we were kids and teenagers. He always had a joke of some kind to tell and it would keep you laughing for days. When I got married and moved to Maryland, I did not get to see him that much. When I would go visit my sister who lives close to him, I would usually stop by. And yes, he would have something funny to tell me and I would leave there feeling great. He was the same kind of person as a teenager and a grown man. My heartfelt prayers to his children, grand children and sisters Brenda and Jackie. Roy, Jr. (that's what we called him) was one in a million and you will have to look far and wide to find another man like him. I will be looking to the stars to see if I see a crabbing boat in the sky .

He was good guy who always looked out for me with my crabs and was always sure to give me a good laugh while I was at the store. I HAVE KNOWN ROY FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER. I'M SAD THAT I WON'T BE ABLE TO DROP IN AND TALK TO HIM FROM TIME TO TIME. IF I CAME IN THE STORE AND ROY JUMPED UP FROM HIS CHAIR, HE WASN'T IN THE MOOD TO TALK, BUT IF HE SAT THERE A MINUTE, I WOULD SIT DOWN IN THE CHAIR NEXT TO HIM AND JUST CHAT AWHILE. A TRUE FIXTURE IN THIS COUNTY WHO WILL BE SORELY MISSED. WE ALWAYS WOULD JOKE AND CALL HIM THE MAYOR OF TEETOTEM!!!! I AND THE REST OF THE COMMUNITY WILL MISS YOU ROY, REST EASY BOSS MAN!!

I first met your dad in 2000 when Sheila and I happened to break down at the end of a deserted street where we had recently bought property. We didn’t know anyone in the area at the time and a family member sent Roy to the rescue. A little later a pickup truck pulls up and this wiry man jumps out and introduces himself. I asked if he could call a tow truck and he said “That’s going to be expensive take, my truck and bring it back tomorrow”. I had just met this man and he’s going to give me his vehicle. We finally settled on a tow truck (after great debate) and so the story began. I would stop by to see him after that, when we were on our property, just to say hello. Once we moved in our friendship seemed to really grow. If I needed anything - truck, tractor or equipment he would always lend it to me. If something broke on his tractor, wood splitter or a crab cooker he would bring it by the shop and I would patch it up and take it back to him. This continued throughout our friendship. He often tried to pay me but I would always tell Roy that we were on the barter method and that always worked for us. Every time I’d stop by, he’d ask – what’s Joe doing – I’d tell him I had been somewhere looking for something and he’d say – I think I have some and sure enough he’d have some in a drawer or box. I’ll never forget the time I was looking for an old starter and couldn’t find it anywhere. I stopped by to see Roy and asked if he had ever seen anything like the starter. He cocked his head to one side and looked up as in thought. He walked over to a file cabinet opened a drawer and pulled the exact starter out and handed it to me. Unbelievable! He laughed and said “I told you to always stop here first”. After that I if I couldn’t find something, I’d stop by show it to him and he’d say “let’s check stock” and we’d both laugh. He was a true friend, never afraid to tell me what he thought but had a heart as big as his opinion. I am honored to have known him and will forever be grateful for his friendship. I will miss him dearly as many in this community will.
