Sherry Laveda Brooks, 68, of Ruther Glen passed away Friday, December 8, 2023 at Mary Washington Hospital after a long battle with a chronic illness with her husband by her side. Born in Fredericksburg, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Evelyne Chandler. Sherry spent the majority of her career as an underwriter at Life of Virginia insurance company and later as a cashier at Moore’s Supermarket where she met many members of the Caroline County community. She enjoyed crafting, gardening, and working on her miniature doll houses, but mostly loved spending time with her granddaughter and caregiver Ashley.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Michael R. Brooks; her daughter, Angel Brooks; her sister, Sharon Loving; her three grandchildren, Ashley Brooks, Brandon Brooks and Cassandra Lugo; her three great-grandchildren, Bryson Brooks, Aiden Craig and Dakota Lugo; her nephews, Shaun Loving (Laura) and Shane Loving (Jess).

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Bowling Green Storke Funeral Home chapel. The family will be receiving friends to help celebrate Sherry’s life and memory starting at 1:00 pm the day of the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the American Lung Association in her memory.
