Sofia Barnes, 75, of King George, Virginia passed away on February 23, 2024. Sophia lived in Jacksonville Florida for over 40 years before recently moving to King George.

She was selfless individual who extended her care to family, friends, and strangers alike. Known for her nurturing spirit, Sofia found joy in caring for children both at the church nursery and within in her own home.

With a kind, complimentary nature, Sofia was a social butterfly who cherished moments spent with her friends. Her devout Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life.

Sofia had a passion for plants and possessed an incredible green thumb. She found solace in tending to her plants, nurturing them with care and attention daily.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob McClung; parents, Islao and Petronilla Bantilan; son, Archie Barnes; brother, Malichio Bantilan; and sister, Lydia Bantilan.

Sofia is survived by her children, Donald Barnes (Destiney), Jennifer Hampton (Joshua), James Barnes, and Elizabeth Peters (Nick); sister, Marietta Estabrook; brother, Edgar Bantilan (Neciana); grandchildren, Allisa, Andrew, Donald “Alex”, Dennis “DJ”, Savannah, Solomon, Jarrick, Gary, and Sophia; great-grandchildren, Donald “Aiden”, Yunalesca, Hazel, Cameron, and Amir; and best friends, Eden McCracken and Debbie Rauston.
