DAUGHTREY, Thomas Knight Sr., “Tom”, 89, of Sandston, Virginia, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023. He was the son of Major Lyman Carroll and Ruth Knight Daughtrey.  He is survived by his daughter, Donna D. Martinez (Eladio Martinez, Jr.), and son, Thomas K. Daughtrey, Jr.; granddaughters, Lauren M. Garner (Benjamin P. Garner), and Dr. Brittany A. Martinez; great-grandchildren, Matthew B. Garner and Grace O. Garner.

Tom received his Bachelor of Science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia where he was in the Corps of Cadets, and The Highty Tighties (Regimental Band).  He completed his Army tour as a First Lieutenant and then pursued a Master of Science from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.  Tom worked for and retired from the Internal Revenue Service after thirty years.  He was a Master Mason and served in various capacities at Woodland Heights Lodge and was an active member of Black Heath Daylight Lodge.  He was also active in the Scottish Rite and ACCA Shrine.

Tom enjoyed travelling, restoring antique vehicles, and collecting coins.  He was an active member and deeply involved with his church, Sandston Presbyterian.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Sandston Presbyterian Church.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Sandston Presbyterian Church.
